Soccer unable to handle top ranked teams

The Cougars hosted top ranked teams, George Brown College and Seneca College over the weekend.

Women's Soccer

On Saturday afternoon, women's soccer took on the 2-1-1 George Brown Huskies. The Cougars had a good first half, despite being down 1-0. It was ten minutes into the second that would define the game, when the Huskies scored two back-to-back goals. The Cougars were able to get on the scoreboard with a goal by second-year forward Marley Coccimiglio, but the Huskies got past the Cougars keeper, Jayna Petingola, to finish the game 4-1. Shots on net were 18-4 in favour of the Huskies.

The Cougars faced the undefeated Seneca Sting on Sunday afternoon, and had difficulty gaining possession. Seneca scored 10 goals on 38 shots for the win.

Men's Soccer

Men's soccer had a tough outing against the George Brown Huskies on Saturday afternoon, with the Huskies outscoring the Cougars 7-0. Keeper Alessandro Ciampangila stopped 12 of the 19 shots in the loss.

On Sunday, the Cougars took on the Seneca Sting at Tom Tipton Field. It was scoreless until the 30th minute when Seneca struck first and took the lead. Seneca would find the back of the net on 5 more shots for the 6-0 win. Shots were 19-1 in favour of the Sting.

Next action for the Cougars is this weekend against Cambrian College (Oct. 1) at home during the Sault College Homecoming event!
