Soccer finish home schedule over the weekend
Fans filled the bleachers at the men's and women's soccer games during Sault College's Homecoming event on Saturday evening.
Women's Soccer
Women's soccer was up first, taking on Cambrian College (2-2-2). The Cougars fell behind early with Cambrian scoring at the four-minute mark. Cambrian would net another goal 10 minutes later, but the Cougars held off the opposition for the rest of the half and had two scoring opportunities of their own. Cambrian came out strong in the second half, scoring three goals for a 5-0 final. Goalkeeper Jayna Petingola stopped 15 of 20 shots.
Men's Soccer
Men's soccer was searching for their first win of the season against Cambrian College. It wasn't until the 37th minute that Cambrian would get a shot past Goalkeeper Alessandro Ciampagila to take the 1-0 lead. Cambrian came out hot in the second half, scoring 3 goals to make it 4-0 in favour of the Shield. Ciampagila stopped 8 of 16 shots.
Next action for the Cougars is this weekend against Algonquin College (Oct 8) on the road.
