Cougars Sweep Lawrence Tech to Remain Perfect!

The Cougars were back in action Saturday night with a rematch against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. Chloe Lemcke was in net for the Blue Devils opposite Farrah Farstad for the Cougars.

The game got off to a fast and furious start, but neither team was able to find a way to get one past the goaltenders through the opening 10 minutes. Alyssa Byers was able to break the deadlock with under four minutes remaining in the opening period with assists to Zoe Weaver & Jenna Jackson. Materia Land would extend the lead to 2-0 off an Emma Lee pass with under ten seconds remaining in the period.

Emma Lee would get back into the goal column to open the second period, scoring unassisted just over two minutes into the second frame. Lee would add another three minutes later with assists to Bergen Lucas & Materia Land. With the flood gates opened, Taryn Sullivan would get in on the action, scoring 9 minutes into the period with the assist to Jackson. Sullivan wasn’t done there as she would add another just before the buzzer extending the Cougars lead to 6-0. Lily Wallsmith and Bergen Lucas would pick up the assists.

With the game in hand, Sullivan would complete the natural hattrick six minutes into the period off an Amelia Williams feed. Not to be outdone, Materia Land would record a hattrick of her own, adding a pair of goals before the final buzzer with assists to Danika West & Taryn Sullivan. Farrah Farstad would turn away all 26 shots she faced, recording her third shutout in as many starts to kick off the season.

The Cougars are back on the road next weekend as they travel to New York state to face the Niagara University Purple Eagles D1 team. Stay tuned for streaming links and updates for next weekend’s games!
