Sault Cougars Women’s Hockey Dominates Weekend with Three Big Wins

November 10, 2025 — Sault Ste. Marie, ON
The Sault Cougars women's hockey team delivered a statement weekend, picking up three commanding victories to extend their winning streak and solidify their place among the top teams in the conference.

The Cougars opened their weekend on Friday, November 7, with an explosive 9–0 win over the University of Minnesota–Duluth. From the opening puck drop, Sault controlled the pace, showcasing their speed and depth throughout the lineup with nine different goal scorers (Katelynn Jaquces, Lydia Steen, Amelia Williams, Maiana Boissoneau, Ophelia Lucas-Engberg, Materia Land, Danika West, Matea Glavota and Taryn Sullivan). The offense came in waves, with multiple players finding the scoresheet The Cougars' relentless forecheck and sharp puck movement overwhelmed UMD, while the defensive unit and goaltending stood tall with Denali Forsyth recording a shutout.

On Saturday, November 8, the Cougars faced a tougher defensive test against Assiniboine College, pulling out a gritty 1–0 shutout victory. The lone goal from Katelynn Jacques came at the start of the second period, as Sault capitalized on a fast start. Goaltender Farrah Farstad was exceptional between the pipes, turning away every shot she faced to preserve the shutout and the team's momentum.

The weekend concluded in emphatic fashion on Sunday, as Sault cruised to a 13–0 win over North Dakota State University (NDSU). The Cougars' offense was unstoppable, cycling the puck with precision and converting on nearly every scoring opportunity. The defense once again held strong to secure their third shutout of the weekend.

With these three victories, the Cougars improved their record to 7-0, continuing to prove they are a powerhouse in women's collegiate hockey this season. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they prepare for another strong showing at home on Friday Nov 14th, 2025, when Lawrence Tech comes to town.
